Katrina Update

If you think the images on TV are bad. No have not seen ANYTHING.

Thousands of bodies are now decomposing in New Orleans and according to some, burning of these corpses is being considered to halt what could be a health nightmare.  This is a serious problem that cannot be underestimated as the climate in this region is extremely hot, humid and given to the spread of disease. Eyewitness reports of hundreds of bodies floating in the water are making their way into the media. Alligators and crocodiles eating the corpses of people both old and young are not uncommon in eyewitness reporting.

Thousands are dead. The mainstream media is NOT telling you the extent of death. The stopped counting the death toll after it broke 100. Don't be surprised if the toll does not reach 20,000-30,000 or more as those who were too poor or too stubborn to leave when asked to who were drowned in their homes. While speculating on the numbers may be premature, be assured that the toll will number in the thousands, and almost certainly in the tens of thousands. However, the actual death toll will probably not be released to the public for quite some time as missing persons reports must be collated and verified.

"We are going to uncover people who died hiding in the houses, maybe got caught in floods. It is going to be as ugly a scene as you can imagine." - Chertoff

Other more troubling reports are making the rounds that there was a near mutiny by US troops as they returned to restore order. Many came from Iraq and when they saw the devastation became angry at having been posted so far away when they saw the devastation and wanted to check on loved ones that were missing. A near mutiny ensued and some troops have been allowed to time to find loved ones. Admittedly these stories are not widely circulated and the veracity of them can be legitimately questioned, baring firmer information. The same can be said of Cheney's absence from the scene. Scuttlebutt in the beltway is that he is ill, far more ill than is generally known. This is why the press has not 'beaten up' on him like they have Rice, who went on a nice, very expensive shopping spree while the people were drowning and aid convoys were being blocked. I must say that is pretty calloused. But it shows an administration that is really out of touch with what is going on.

The issues of the Administrations abysmal response needs to be discussed. Stories of rape and murder, at least its scale, have not been reported to the public at large. It was and still is to a large degree, truly and a situation of anarchy. The government is taking some steps to identify those responsible and will hold them accountable. Stories of people being left for dead, rape gangs who rape the women in families just before the entire family is murdered are surfacing. The true evil of many of the residents of  'Voodoo City' can be seen by all the world.

If this was not bad enough the New Orleans Police Department is staffed at considerably less than 10%. Some have gone ‘native’ others are dead the rest are missing. This is one of the reasons there is such lawlessness in the city. When the city really needed its cops, they were no where to be found. Chaos rules the city and but thankfully the presence of the National Guard is now restoring order.

There is great concern on energy after the storm. For those of you who do not like it when I talk about oil and energy, this is one time that you should pay attention.  Total loses and economic costs could total $100 billion. The fact that 12 major refineries are now closed and that US gasoline supplies are at 5 year lows means that Gas prices will rise and rise much higher. While political announcements of Europe releasing Gasoline to the US have settled the markets the question of distribution still looms. Where will they supplies be brought in. The fact that the the US is releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is really an empty political gesture because the oil must be refined and we have lost a great deal of that capacity, roughly 10%. When one considers that our refineries are running at 98% capacity at all times any disruption causes severe problems.

58 Gulf oil rigs have been damaged and 30 have been reported lost.

As of the 2nd of September, Oil production was reduced by 1.328 million barrels per day according to the EIA. These problems are exacerbated by missing personnel, communications problems and other logistical issues. Officials in the Oil industry are trying to calm fears and stop hoarding by saying that production can begin again in two weeks. Such talk is wishful thinking and fanciful. Nevertheless, crews have been successful in restoring power to some of the refineries. But some are badly damaged and will take more time to repair. The head of the International Energy Agency sees a global enerygy crisis on the way if the US if forced to purchase large amounts of EU petrol. The bottom line is that it will take months to get production back on track.

Is there any good news? In my estimation the best news is this. People are now going to have to learn to conserve. The problems in the Oil supply chain are now front and center and perhaps some action will be taken to reduce consumption considerably.

This is a major disaster and while some of it can and probably will be mitigated by the hard work of professionals who work in the oil and gas industries, the real problem this author sees is not $4 a gallon, but one that few are really talking about now.

Natural Gas.

Natural Gas Prices

Source: EIA

Let me ask each and every reader of this article who lives north of the Mason Dixon line this question: How do you plan on heating your home this winter? Oil? Natural Gas? Well if that is the way you had better makes some alternative plans now. If the US suffers an unusually cold winter supplies 'may not be sufficient'. That is a euphemism for a very cold house and a a lot of dead Americans. It also means very high heating bills this winter. While you pay more for your Natural Gas, you can be assured that the astronomical price will be 'seasonally adjusted' by the Bureau of Labor Statistics to show a decline in price when it conjures up its inflation numbers. How are people going to afford to heat their homes this winter with the supply crunch that Katrina is likely to bring on? I took some precautions on Tuesday and made some purchases that may keep me warm if indeed natural gas supplies run out. I am not telling anyone what to do, nor should anyone panic. There is no reason for it. It is time however to think ahead and do it prudently with an eye to the fact that hurricane season is far from over.

You should do the same if you live above the 36th parallel. If you don't you may be in for a long cold winter with no heat. So if I were many of you, I would start thinking about some alternatives before it gets cold and everyone else begins to do the same thing. I would also have enough other kinds of supples on hand in your home to last you a few weeks in case of a natural disaster. I would not wait around to do it. How deep supply chain disruptions will affect national transportation system remains to be seen. Though they may not be substantial, it must be kept in mind that the higher the price of fuel, the more smaller independent trucking companies go out of business. Rising prices in the trucking industry will have wide consequences for the industry.

The economic fallout will effect shipping in certain agricultural commodities as well. In short Katrina's impact will be felt far and wide for a long, long time. I say this even in spite of much of the welcome good news coming out now.

God's Call

On the spiritual front, I see this Hurricane as a major warning to America to repent of its myriad sins and evils that are readily apparent. God is not going to keep looking at America's evils. The evils will cease or America will cease to exist. I am under no illusions that America will repent. I know that she won't. She is too arrogant, cruel and perverted to even consider changing her ways. This is why I see much worse and many more evils coming our way. Earthquakes, hurricanes, terrorism, civil strife, poverty and an severe economic decline. Additionally, I do not see these things happening like they did before, with small death tolls. No. We will see deaths in the thousands as God removes the evil from his sight. We may even see casualty tolls in the millions if stubbornness and pride remains in the heart of America.

As State's like California get ready to call Sodomy 'marriage', the God of all things has sent out as clear a warning on this as he can. Katrina hit 2 days before the wicked homosexual sex-festival known as Southern Decadence. Now the city is underwater and thousands are dead. Let this be a warning to a state that sits on a major earthquake fault as they plan to recognize what God has declared as an abomination, that being the acceptance of sodomy. Any society that does this puts itself in God's divine cross hairs. It will not stand. So here is my advise to every American who has rejected God's council; If you want to become alligator food or get swallowed up or crushed in an earthquake, burned alive in a fire, blown up in a terrorist attack or killed in a crime spree when lawlessness abounds all you have to do is keep on sinning and doing it with impudence.

God is love but one thing he does not love is sin and rebellion if you want to get on the LORD's bad side, just participate in those things continually and you go to a place will never see life, light or love again. I am giving you the warnings America's pastors should be giving. I am giving you the exhortation that should be coming from the Churches and for the most part aren't.

Hell fire is not a metaphor, it is a place and real people go there... everyday. To you who love the world first (America) while claiming to love God, your hypocrisy will show itself as it did with the TV Preacher who called for murder a few days ago. Serve the LORD and live, serve the end-time beast and meet with eternal death.

There have been wide cries of Racism regarding the way aid has been handled in the region. I want to talk about this for just a minute. There does appear to be a major disparity about how the US reacted to this crisis and the way it has reacted to others around the world, especially the Christmas tsunami. It seems that when America's own citizens are affected, especially black Americans, a thousand excuses are made as to why things  could not happen quickly while aid trucks are turned away, Red Cross workers are denied entry and Communications are jammed in the region to prevent the real scope of tragedy from being known. It seems to honest observers that there may have been malicious intent on the part of our policy makers to let as many die as possible. This is not so crazy an idea and when one observes the history of African Americans and the fact that at one time, the highest court in the land (what I like to call the 'nine black robed thieves'), ruled that a black person was not fully human, you understand why people are very cynical about the reaction of this administration to the tragedy. The fact that the Political Party in question has had a deep antipathy towards Black Americans these past 70 years does not help despite the high profile 'widow dressing' of people like Condie Rice who front for the Administration.

While there was seems to be high a degree of racism in the decisions and inaction of Federal officials, I have tried to step back and ask myself could there be another reason these things have gone so poorly? The answer to that is yes. Sadly there was no place really for rescue workers to set up. No infrastructure, no way to distribute the goods nothing. The city is truly in shambles. This criticism of officials needs to be understood in light of these facts which are sometimes obscured by peoples justified antipathy towards the administration and its past demonstrated disregard for human life, especially if that life is not 'blond haired' and 'blue eyed'. Until the water levels go down the best thing rescue workers can do is try to save people who are still trapped.

It would have been counterproductive for people to go in when the only thing they would have been met with was a wall of water or a nut with a .45 who wants to steal the aid. How do you distribute aid like that with such lawlessness the rule of the day? Much of the criticism seems to be well deserved, but let us keep in mind the enormous obstacles that the rescue and aid teams must face when we criticize.

To you who trust in God this is for each and every one of you.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. (Psalm 91)

Trust God and live. Obey him and receive his blessings.
