Hope is what keeps all of us going. For the Christian, is a very special kind of hope, hope that is a gift from God. Hope for a servant of Jesus Christ is the hope of future glory with Christ when he returns. Hope that all the evil that reigns presently in the Earth and in the hearts of men will one day be done away with forever. The hope of the true believer in Christ is not the same kind of hope that is found in non-Christians or in the harlot (false) Churches. There, the hope is to make this present system better and or 'get theirs' in this life. The Christian knows that while we are to be 'the salt of the earth', eventually things will not get better here on this planet before Christ comes. Rather, they will get considerably worse. Christians know that hardship and persecution are the lot of true believers in this life. Those who know their God are, as the bible says, "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." (Romans 5:5). God has placed in the hearts of HIS people this very special hope. It is something that an unregenerate person cannot understand. It is how we can tell those who know their God from those that do not. Those who know God have this hope in them, even the resurrection of life and of eternal rewards. They live their lives with this hope foremost on their minds, and it manifests itself in their daily conversation. Hope in Christ is what motivates the Christian to do the commands of Christ. Hope, love and faith.
To the world at large, this is utter foolishness. With the all the world has to offer, illicit gain, bloodshed, sexual misconduct, blind ambition, lies, deceits, drunkenness, drug overdoses, cold-heartedness and all the other 'good times' the world has to offer, it seems so foolish to give all that up for Jesus.
So the worldly mind, totally oblivious to the real hope that Christ offers and the real danger of rejecting Christ, shrugs it's shoulder and continues on its path filled with worldly hope. God offers a much better hope to all who will listen and obey. A hope that is based on faith and the faithfulness of Christ, who died for us. Christ in us, the hope of glory, is the motto every genuine Christian should live by. It is the purpose for our being, to be glorified by God in order to give glory to God. It is a hope based on love through faith. This is the way of the true Christian. It is the way of righteousness and it is the way of peace. God grants us this peace, something that is beyond the comprehension of the worldly mind, as the scripture says; "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable" (1Cor 15:19). This hope in Christ sounds like superstition or religious fanaticism. Yet, to the very small number of people who are God's elect, they have received the Holy Spirit and know that God is real and is true to his word.
God's special knowledge given by the Holy Spirit is not some 'gnosis' that only a secret organization has or a special group possesses. It is God who does the choosing and God's Spirit that does the teaching. As Christ said, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."(John 16:13). These are things that the world cannot understand because, as Christ said, the world cannot receive him, "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you" (John 14:17). That is why a true servant of God knows what God is saying to his people. A true Christian, before too long should be able to discern a false prophet. The Spirit of God will (gently) tell the person where there is error. For Christ promised that he would lead us into all truth and tell us of things to come. To a worldly mind, it is a confusing babble to hear the many false preachers on TV and in the vast (and I do mean VAST) majority of America's pulpit's. They are confused and troubled by the foolishness they see. But some are taken in and are deceived by these prophets of profit. The hope that God gives to his people is something only the select have truly been given, it includes these essential elements; Hope, Faith, Love and Truth.
God's elect understand these things in an indescribable way. They see, believe and know. Hope is a command of Christ, "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh (Luke 21:28). This is the hope that Christ gives to HIS people. Not the false Christians who think they are saved and are not. This hope is not firmly part of the lives of false believers, they may mouth the words from time to time and say the right things around other 'Christians' but the reality of what Christ is saying is lost on them for this hope is something that can only truly be experienced by one who is truly born into God's kingdom and have partaken of the Spirit of God.
'Hope springs eternal', is the old saying often used by worldly people, yet it is true only for Christians. As for those without Christ, they have no real hope and will go to a place where God will remove any and all hope. Hope of peace, love, faith, and truth will be forever lost in a place unspeakable torment and loss, because they rejected the truth of Jesus Christ and his revelation. As Jesus said, "I AM the way, the truth and the life".
Hope for the Christian is a matter of faith in God's redemptive process. It is hope that God will redeem any man who obeys Christ from his sin and glorify him with his Christ. It is as simple as that. Religious institutions everywhere are attempting to make a heaven on earth; their hope is to make the world a better place for themselves. The reality is the world is not going to get better, it is going to get much worse, very quickly. It is going to go through convulsions and tribulations and the vast majority of the worlds population will not survive spiritually or physically. Hope for the non-Christian is an illusion, pure and simple. Hope for the Christian is eternal.
Place you faith and hope in Christ and be saved.
